Security
Our Offerings
The
security division within Technology Effect has a wealth of expertise in
the following areas:
 |
Access Control Solutions - Technology Effect security staff
has extensive experience in the design and implementation of
tailored security infrastructure. Although perimeter security is
very important, your organisation is only as secure as your
weakest link – a successful security architecture takes a
holistic view of security ensuring all aspects of the IT
strategy are incorporated into the security framework. Our
consultants design security architectures to meet the customers’
specific requirements and recommend services to assist in the
lifetime management of security. The security consultants ensure
that your security architecture is sound, whilst helping you
work out the best balance of managed risk and business impact.

Intrusion
Detection and Prevention - Technology Effect recognises the
requirements for businesses to efficiently manage their
technical resources and to also ensure fast response to security
incidents. Like an alarm system, an Intrusion Detection System
lets organisations know immediately that their infrastructure is
under electronic attack. By enabling prevention capability -
these attacks can often be blocked in real time with no
intervention required. Technology Effect is constantly
researching intelligent systems that actively monitor network
traffic as well as interpreting and processing the information.
Additionally, as these systems are preloaded with hundreds of
up-to-date attack signatures, allowing systems to be protected
against the latest styles of attacks originating from the
Internet or from internal sources. |
 |
Strong Authentication - Strong Authentication is the ability
to reliably and securely authenticate an individual or
organisation and control what assets they can access. If you
need to provide your employees, roaming sales staff and external
customers authenticated access to your network, then you need
properly secured Remote Access Services; simple user name and
password authentication is not enough to protect your network.
The Technology Effect Security Division design and recommend a
number of strong authentication schemes such as Token Based
Authentication, Smartcards, Biometrics, Digital Certificates and
PKI solutions as well as designing secure authorisation
mechanisms for reduced sign on. |
 |
Content Management Security - A critical part of any
security infrastructure is the ability to control content
leaving or entering an organisation by email and also to enforce
policy dictating the content employees can access on the
Internet. With their extensive expertise in this area,
Technology Effect make Content management an intrinsic part of a
successful security infrastructure. |
 |
Secure Remote Access Solutions - Very much integrated with
the Strong Authentication offering, Secure Remote Access
Solutions consider the design and deployment of access
connectivity. From traditional RAS devices to VPN-based
solutions using public networks such as the Internet for their
transport, Technology Effect security consultants have designed
and deployed many security remote access solutions that not only
provide increased functionality but also reduced support and
management for the IT department. |
 |
Attack and Penetration - A Penetration Test is an attempt to
breach the security of a network by a “friendly attacker”. The
engineer initiating the attack tests for vulnerabilities but
does not exploit any weaknesses found. A report on the results
of the attack, detailing all vulnerabilities detected and
recommendations on mitigating the vulnerabilities is prepared
for the customer. Through a proven track record of leading the
IT security business in Australia, Technology Effect can perform
an Attack and Penetration on your IT security architecture and
Internet facing hosts incorporating checks for the latest known
vulnerabilities. |

Security Risk Assessment / Management Frameworks / Policy and
Procedures Review / Strategic Planning / Auditing -
Technology alone cannot resolve all security issues; policies
and procedures must be developed to assist in maintaining
security levels appropriate to business. A security policy can
be tailored to suit your environment. This can range from a
broad stroke policy guideline to a detailed specific policy
statement. Such a document might include Acceptable Use
Policies, Host Installation Procedures and Firewall Operation
Policies and Procedures. Technology Effect's Risk Assessment
approach makes use of AN/NZS.4360 (Risk Management Standard) as
a reference model for conducting the risk assessment.
Alternatively, the DSD ACSI-33 standard can be used as
appropriate. ACSI-33 is also based on AS/NZS.4360. From an
information management perspective, Technology Effect offers
AS/NZS:4444 (ISO17799) reviews. Unlike Vendor consultants who
make their offerings fit your problems, Technology Effect
provides an unbiased assessment and presents the most
appropriate recommendations for your business.
